Josh Beckett was scratched from last night’s scheduled start because of the flu–or as manager Terry Francona put it, “intestinal turmoil”–and Joe McDonald of ESPN Boston reports that he’s now unlikely to make his pushed-back start Saturday.

Francona told McDonald that Beckett “is really sick” and “doctors are trying to figure it out.”

Andrew Miller has altered his usual routine in order to be available if needed in Beckett’s place Saturday against the Pirates.

    Probably some form of herpes.

Do we really need to know THAT specific a reason for guys to sit out a game? It’s a slippery (yes, quite slippery) slope leading to “He’s not available due to hemorrhoids and the runs—oh, and his jock itch is raging something fierce, too.”

He should have known better than to go with one of those NYC skanks when he played the yankees ;)

He couldn’t make a pimple on NY skanks ass. He’s a total hillbilly, that jerk off would be lost in NY.

wonder if that “funny” little blister problem has come back.

Mr. Beckett might actually be sick, as the headlines point out. He is the ace of the team and the one that the others look to. He is the one the other players hope is the guy on the mound.

These guys getting sick are tough guys that don’t want to leave the game. You actually worry a bit about Mr. B. He’s not one to skip one start, let alone two.

If they are trying to figure it out, it could be something like mono or pneumonia. I wish him the best.

Josh is really hurt and they don’t want anyone to know yet

I hope this turns out to be nothing. As much as that guy creams the Beaver Boys, I still like baseball better with him in it.
