Rizzo just said the following on the Fox broadcast of the Nats-White Sox game:

Johnson will manage through the end of the season, then participate in a search for a new manager. In any event, Johnson is “part of the furniture,” and will remain in the organization in some capacity.

So either Heyman is wrong or Rizzo isn’t telling the whole truth. I tend to beleve Rizzo, but not completely. Things should (hye said. hopefully), be resolved by tomorrow’s game.

my opinion also. Didnt Bowden get fired (or quit one step ahead of being fired)? I doubt he is getting much insider information from the Nats.

Good move on johnson, its about time someone brought him back instead of all the retread wannabes and never weres that teams like KC, the A’s and the Brewers keep hiring.

Hey, maybe Davey can donate some stem cells to the Keep Jack Alive Foundation. The Curmudgeonly Undead’s telomeres are beginning to look like Lenny Kravitz. At this rate, defibrillators are going to be regulation issue in MLB dugouts, in addition to the shock helmet they have to keep around in case Bud Light shows up on an inspection tour.

Good ol’ Davey Johnson…I still have fond memories of the late ’80s Mets even though I was a little kid.

And hey, he’s 12 years younger than Jack McKeon…so that’s something.

Immediately signing Johnson through 2013 also lends a little credence back to Jim Riggleman’s statement that the Nationals weren’t going to re-sign him anyway, since the GM had refused to even talk to him about going past 2012. Still, I think the end of the season is when he should have forced their hand, not during.
