Mountain Landis was no hero – the man delayed the integration of baseball by decades. Putting him in the same sentence as Branch Rickey is a mockery of what Rickey and Robinson did for the game.

Totally agree. Selig (and most MLB owners the last 30 years) have done little good for baseball….they have just rode the gravy train with the evolution of baseball on TV. Anything Selig has done has been for the enrichment of the owners and at the expense of tax payers…baseball itself is in no better shape now than it was decades ago…indeed, you could argue it is in worse shape in some places, like Puerto Rico, thanks to the owners (through Selig) attempting to place earning restrictions on drafted players.

`Why all the Selig haters?? Ol Buddy boy has done more for the game then any non-player…ever. Are any of you old enough to remember all the annual labor issues? Interleague play, expanded playoffs, new stadiums, on and on. The game has never been in better shape, period.

Wow. Really? The Players Association will make sure the mercenaries (ie; players) are fully compensated. The players have guaranteed contracts. It’s not based on attendance. They’ll get paid even if nobody shows up. They don’t even think of who is in the seats.

It’s all so sad, so sordid, so tragic – the players – the guys on the field – have had to play to their best abilities, to keep the fans coming in – so they could get paid – Will this incident change the way that franchies are bought / sold? I hope so – It’s just sad that the players had to get dragged through the muck – good for them to continue to put on a brave face / good show – win or lose, they played for the fans.
After all, we the fans, ultimately pay the saleries of the players, the managers, the hangers on. As we, the little guy from middle America has always done. – I’m just sayin

If this works the way it’s supposed to, the bankruptcy court is already in Selig’s back pocket. The loan that McCourt just got is based on the fact that the lender know he can’t repay it. He’ll default. The lender will make a hefty chunk after the franchise is sold. Selig and his henchmen will continue to control the Dodgers until they find the next good ol’ boy to buy into their club.

McCourt, meanwhile, will slink back to Boston where he belongs.

Nah, Selig doesn’t give a crap about fans (he’s not paid to give a crap about the fans), he is paid to give a crap about franchise values and revenues…it just so happens that in this case, the same solution benefits the owners and the fans of the Dodgers.
