Palin’s resume is primarily stacked with grandstanding stunts, idiotic misstatements and misfires, an amazing lack of knowledge or sophistication about things like other religions, science, geography, history and law, an intense “Christian” bigotry marked by a juvenile religiosity that would embarrass most intelligent ten year olds, and a sanctimoniousness so dense that if she dropped one of her morals she would break her foot.

Regardless, Jberardi’s point was that even intelligent, literate conservatives – not to mention moderate or center-rightists – are embarrassed by her. What does that have to do with Obama?

Picky point, but LOTR isn’t really a trilogy–JRR Tolkien wrote it as one story. The publishers made it three books (correctly) thinking the size of the thing would scare customers off.

That said, I also like Rocky 2 & 3. Stallone should have stopped there though.

As someone who loves both films, I have to disagree with you here. They are both baseball films, but one is 100% funny and the other is 50% funny and 50% serious. Major League is more of a spoof film really, while Bull Durham is a movie that was more realistic.

One note about Bull Durham…Danny Gans was in it as one of their buddies. Yeah, the Danny Gans who headlined at the Mirage and made a gazillion dollars doing impressions until he died a few years back. Apparently, he was a minor league player until he blew out his knee.

So IMHO…Major League…silly funny show. Bull Durham…funny show. Both are classics and I don’t turn either one off when channel surfing.

Major League 3 bore almost no resemblance to the original. It was more of a sequel to Major League 2. It wasn’t even about the Indians (rather, it was about a Twins farm club).

Bull Durham is a relationship film that happens to involve baseball. Yes, there is a lot of baseball, and Ron Shelton is a pretty good sports film director, but it’s not really a baseball film. Also, I can’t stand Tim Robbins.

Major League is a baseball film, pure and simple.

Too late, there’s already one claiming to be the 3rd, they’re discussing a 4th in the SI piece.
Other than Star Wars 4, 5 & 6/ LOTR / Indiana Jones 1,2 & 3, I can’t think of a sequel that worked.
