After an extraordinarily busy day I sat down in depressed hope, but hope nonetheless, of seeing at least another decent outing by my Beaver Boys. All I really wanted was for them avoid being no-hit again. Little did I expect that they would decide they'd had enough of this flukey Philly winning sh!t and take it all out on poor Clifton Phifer Lee. They just pwned him in the 8th. I don't know what he said to Bautista after striking him out previous to the 8th but he shouldn't have done that. Joey The Bat don't take no smart talk from no pitcher.

Eric Thames continues to be just a stud of a hitter since coming back up. He's swinging harder and with better contact. He looks like a Left Handed Jose Bautista. Encarnacion and Davis have finally woken up the bats; thanks Jobu, plenty more rum when you need it. Now all the Hired Guns of Beaver Land need is another late innings reliever and they'll be rolling. Big test coming up in Boston soon. I certainly hope they do better than they did last time. It would be hard to do worse.

Romero, Lind, Arencibia, and a few very good relievers counter that nicely. Plus of course players who their draft picks were traded for who are doing well on the team.

Plus there's not a lot to counter. Little early to call Drabek a bust based on his first 90 innings. It's also too early to give up on Snider, who's only 23, an age where most hot prospects are still in the minors. Even Rios is a useful player with over a hundred career homers.

I guess when you are a fan of the jays high draft picks is all you can really root for but think about it, what have these picks really done for them? Snider? Bust, Draback? Bust Rios? Bust and the list just goes on and on.

The Jays had to take back salary in order to trade Wells. Napoli had an expensive contract with 2 years left on it and he would have duplicated the skills of other players on the roster. Remember that the Angels wanted to dump both Napoli and Rivera because they were overpaid. Hopefully Francisco will be a Type B Free Agent at the end of the season, so the Jays will get a high draft pick when he signs elsewhere.

too bad we couldnt have traded wells for a bunch of minor leaguers, at least they cant cost us games while theyre playing in las vegas. the jays got rivera and napoli in that trade, and it didnt look bad having a bench player and a HR hitting catcher. then for reasons i will never fully understand, AA flipped napoli for an over-the-hill relief pitcher. napoli could have played first or catcher to give lind and arencibia time off. all francisco can do give up runs. i know trading wells was just a salary dump but the jays literally did as badly as they could have when it came time to get rid of him

I am sure Toronto management was hopeful that Rivera could have a good 1st half, to potentially flip him to a contender for prospects, alas that was not to be, with the final nail in the coffin the butchering of a very catchable fly ball in Friday's game leading to a comeback win by Philly.

After a couple of close games, Toronto was due for a win against the Phillies. Bautista is hot again. Thames is a fine looking rookie. Travis Snider is now healthy and has bee recalled from Triple A. There will be many more "bombs away" games for the Jays in the second half. Juan Rivera was designated for assignment after the game. Toronto had to take him in order to complete the Vernon Wells salary dump. Somebody might take him if Toronto agrees to pay most of the last 3 months of his contract.
