The A's demonstrated what happens when you have no offense and get behind to a pitcher who has owned you over the years. Chris Young's homer lands in almost the same spot as Pena's from the day before, but doesn't scatter as many fans having not been hit nearly as hard. Big day for Young as he drove in all 4 of the D'backs runs.

Hanley has been taking his vitamins and shows sporadic signs of coming around. Two dingers, one a slam and then a back-to-back with Tweeter. He has hiked his average thirty three points in the last couple of weeks. The Iron Giant, oddly enough, remains mired in a slump that the Curmudgeonly Undead appears determined to let him play through. Meanwhile the team cranked out thirteen hits and maybe, just maybe, their immune systems are developing a resistance to the prion they contracted in California at the end of May.

This was another one of those wring-out-the-boolpen games wherein the Feesh stacked up their middle relievers to start the game at three innings or so each. Mike Dinger-a-Day Dunn got through an entire inning without giving up a dinger. I think that may have been an impostor. Leo Nunez pitched a perfect ninth, demonstrating that part of his problem this past month was lack of work so that he was rusty as an old gate when he did work.

The Feesh are now a mere nine games below the strange attractor and can almost - I say, almost - see it with the naked eye. Raise your eyes to the moonless sky / as if to wish upon a rising star....

Our scoring pattern has been un-Yankee like this year. Yesterday was more typical- everything in late innings so, not that you wouldn't but you can never give up on a Yankee game. Anyone who watched game one of last year's ALCS knows this.
It was a game like Friday night- we've had a lot of great 1st and 2nd innings, then defend them to the end. And our oppenent's fifth is a vulnerable time.

Anyway, we're back to more pertinent competition tomorrow til tha ASG. Guess at noon today the All Stars will be annointed at some kind of MLB High Mass. Well at least the players get a week's notice for missing a day off.

We've seen the Rays two games in the first half of the season, now face them 8 times in two weeks. That's unbalanced!

From what I see, he has somewhat of a long learning curve. Or consistancy curve may be more accuate.,He can have a six game winning streak and then throw all over the place for a few games. Great strikeout pitcher when he's on.

Colon put on an excellent performance his first game back from the DL. Six scoreless inning, 6 K's and no walks and he brought his ERA down to 2.88. Also Nunez had another excellent game... and the Yankees just keep on winning.

Everyone have a Happy and Safe Holiday Weekend, what there is left of it. Enjoy.
