I'm a Phillies fan and they never should be used as a barometer for how good the opposing starters are. The Phillies offense stinks and the worst pitchers only give up 2 or 3 runs against the Phils. Lackey still sucks. Trust me.

Today we saw Francisco after not being used over the weekend. Could that be the secret?, maybe more rest between games because he looked solid today, allowing only a hit to Ellsbury in the 9th.
I really thought they were going to blow that one after getting a 7 run lead. I even turned it off because I was disgusted watching it. Turned it back on to see Francisco strike out that little troll Pedroia and back on again to see him K Narvarro.

Yeah, but at least Lackey has been healthy enough to go out there and get shellacked every one game. Pavano couldn't even give the Yankees that. In Pavano's defense though, there's no way Lackey could pull off the porn stache.

Guess what, he cost twice as much as Pavano. As long as he's in their rotation they can forget about anymore five game winning streaks unless they score at least ten runs for him.

JD drew in the last three years with the Red Sox has accumulated 10.8 WAR. He has hit .270/.379/.475 over that period with a 126 OPS+. I'm not sure in what world that equates to sub-par. Although it is true he doesn't throw a temper tantrum every time he makes an out, so there's that.

"... the same level of legendary awfulness as Pavano’s Yankee contract when it’s all said and done."

I'm not an economist nor did I sleep in a Holiday Inn Express last night but Shalackey is getting more than twice the money Pavano got. Even adjusted for inflation the RS are taking a bigger beating here.

The real question is Crawford shaping up to be Drew part 2? Seems like Drew, sub-par production and WAY below expectations for twice the money.

Considering the way the RS do business unless both of these guys bounce back it will hamstring them for years in the FA market.
