I’m pretty sure Lidge is racing to get back from the DL before Madson. You have to believe he will get preference over Bastardo.

Madson has earned the right to come back and close for this team when healthy. I don’t care if Bastardo strikes out the side every 9th inning until Madson returns.

Though, I’m sure Cholly won’t have much slack on the leash if Madson struggles in his return. But, what Madson has been for the Phillies the past few years should translate into some loyalty when he comes back; especially since he is having a great year.

The Mad Dog really hurt himself here…not only is he hurting the team, but he is hurting his future. If Bastardo continues his success, there’s no way in hell Cholly can take him out…can he? And if he doesn’t, then Ryan goes into the offseason as a guy who closed for a little while, did well this year, and, well, is he someone to build your 9th inning around for $35 million the next 3 years and Bor-ass is likely to request?

Prediction: Uncle Cholly puts Madson right back into the closer’s role. But I wish he would keep the kid in until he at least fails once. He looks pretty good out there…and CHEAP TOO!!!!

At least Hamels used the hand with the glove on. I suspect Madson’s reaction was pure instinct… too bad.
