You can, however, have too much aging, overpaid, injury-prone pitching. I didn’t have a problem with the Garland signing, but it’s tough to defend the rest of what the Dodgers did this offseason.

Dodger’s mess aside, Lilly, Garland & Padilla are examples of how a team can never have too much pitching. I loved how back in the spring the Phillies had too much pitching, at least amongst the starting staff and yet two (Oswalt & Blanton) have spent time on the DL. Sure the Dodger’s three are on the wrong side of 30 so durability could/should have been a question, we also see young seemingly healthy pitchers (i.e. Adam Wainwright) get sidelined for short or long periods of time with little or no warning. There’s a reason why retreads like the Ortiz boys keep on finding a home.
