There are many reasons why this is a big deal. But I was directing my sarcastic question towards austinswafford and all the posters I’ve read on this blog who seem to be baffled as to why this event is being covered the way it is. I get why some of you may hate the Yankees but it surprises me how it affects their ability to use simple reasoning and logic.

You kinda need the footage to make the documentary. For instance, “With the Marines at Tarawa” was planned in advance, with marine cameramen hitting the beach to “document” the action on the island. Not really all that surprising that they plan these things ahead.

Or maybe an overthrow at first where Jeter is credited with a single and reaching 2nd base on an error, but really everyone is pretty sure Jeter would have been thrown out if the defense was clean.

They could even have 5 minutes of waiting for a ruling from the official scorer.

Sure, not like there weren’t any other heroes from the dynasty days. Bernie, Rivera, Pettitte, Tino, Posada all went unnoticed and all credit went to Jeter. But why would the most marketable player in the MLB and the captain of the most historic franchise in American sports located in the number one market reaching one of the biggest individual milestones in the game garner any extra attention? I can’t wrap my head around why the media would want to capitalize on this moment by chronicling his successful career and commemorating his fairly significant achievement.

Um, many documentaries are made “before” something happens. “The Making of the President” series for instance. Others can focus on a everyday life, rather than “something happening.”

So true. He’s limping to it just like Craig Biggio did. Both should be hall of famers, but for some reason, Biggio’s just didn’t get this kind of coverage. Strange. I guess it’s because Jeter “led” all of those $180 million payroll teams to so many World Series titles. How the media managed to give him sole credit for that will always elude me.
