Rosenbloom is a jackass but his point in this article is totally being misunderstood. His point was that it was stupid for the cubs to let Zambrano fly to adopt a kid when they wouldn’t let him fly to Washington for a bullpen session due to fear he might hurt his back on the team plane. Rosenbloom is still a jackass but he wasn’t ripping Zambrano for adopting the kid, he was ripping him and the cubs for flying when the cubs didn’t want him to fly.

Its a shame the Steve Rosenbloom’s parents had a child born with brain damage. Obviously this man has some real mental issues. Maybe his mother used far too much nicotine while she was pregnant and it may have inhibited the growth of his brain cells. At any rate I hope this man never marries and has children. Its obvious he’ll never be a decent parent and never mind a decent man.

Dumbest thing about it is the trip is over the All Star break…there aren’t even games taking place. Probably half of the other players are also traveling someplace over the break. So some dude is going to party down on South Beach and Rosenbloom is perfectly happy with that, but it’s “disrespectful” for Zambrano to go adopt a kid? No wonder they never win. Nobody in their right mind would want to put up with garbage like this.

How do you not stop yourself halfway through writing that and think “wow. I am a total douchebag who has lost all touch with what is actually important in life.”

It’s not like Zambrano doesn’t give him plenty of material with just his performance and behavior on the field and toward his teammates. He doesn’t need to stretch for a reason to criticize him.

If the idea of lauding Zambrano for doing something positive (ala the article on Burke) killed him, he could have just kepy his mouth shut.

And, becoming a parent, one would argue, has more significance in one’s life than our silly little games we watch on television… I personally think so… And, I know I’m not alone…

I thought this was a joke….then I read the piece. What a piece of crap that “column” (others’ words, not mine) was. Talk about a complete and utter lack of perspective. Rosenbloom is a prime example of the “I-take-myself-so-damn-seriously-and-everyone-else-should-too” syndrome that plagues sportswriters of his ilk (Mariotti, Lupica, et al.). I am offended on many levels by his argument, and feel like I’ve already spent too much time addressing it.

In many ways, this column is even more egregious than that idiot one blasting Colby Lewis for having the audacity to miss a start to attend the birth of his child. Zambrano’s not even missing a start, and he’s making a huge difference in the life of a child who needs him and his family. How dare Steve Rosenbloom ridicule him for it?

I hope any of Rosenbloom’s colleagues at the Tribune who have been courageous enough to adopt themselves will corner him and give him a both a piece of their mind, and a right cross to the jaw.
