He has not been a 150 + player for all but the 2009 and 10 seasons. 2000, 2003, 2006, 2007, 2009, 2010. 6 seasons he didn’t make 150 + games. I like Beltran, he’s a great guy. I still don’t want my team to give up prospects plus pay him his salary. Added to that he won’t get them a pick when he becomes a FA either.

He’s had one major injury in a decade-plus of major league playing time. He’s been a 150+ game guy for all but the 2009 and 2010 seasons, and so far has played in all but a couple of games this season. He’s clearly not as healthy as he was even a few years back, but I don’t think you have to be a Mets homer to expect him to be good to go for the stretch run this year.

His knees are terrible. He’s missed most of the last two seasons because of one of them, which has been surgically repaired. We know he’s also had problems with his other knee as recent as this season. If you don’t think that’s injury prone, I don’t know what to say besides we have varying degrees of perception.

Wasn’t that the same injury though? He’s been injured two of the last three years, but he’s healthy this year and was never injured before.

Jed Lowrie, that dude’s injury prone. Ken Griffey, that dude was injury prone. But unless once someone gets hurt they’re automatically injury prone, Beltran isn’t.

If they’re expecting a team to take on a bulk of his remaining salary, then they can’t be expecting much back in the form of young talent. It’s got to be one or the other.

Mock him all you want, he could really help a team. He’s hitting well, but it’s right at his career norm, so it’s no fluke. He’s healthy, and if he does get hurt again, it’s not like you’re committed beyond this year. You won’t have to give up much young talent for him, since he’s a salary dump. And while he’s lost a step, he was two steps ahead of most to begin with, so most agree he’s still good defensively.

I’d love to see Boston pick him up.

In 2009 Beltran only played in 81 games. In 2010 Beltran on played in 64 games. Yes he’s injury prone and to deny it is to ignore reality. Be a homer and deny if you want, but I don’t need to.

Allow me to rephrase, you must excuse my ignorance for not wording everything the way I meant it.

“The Yankees have already been burned by picking up guys from the Mets once”.
I wasn’t blaming or bashing the Mets for anything, although going back it sounded exactly that way, just trying to point things out. Beltran is injury prone. The Yankees got screwed when they signed Feliciano a FA Met. And yes, it was between the Yankees and Feliciano, no fault to the Mets.

It’s also unclear what will happen with compensation this offseason. They will likely change it considerably, possibly even scrapping it altogether.

How did the Yankees get burned by the Mets? Feliciano was a free agent. Did they not do a medical? Did they not see how much he was used the last 3 years? That was their management/medical team’s mistake. The Mets had nothing to do with it.

He projects as a Type A free agent, but the Mets contractually can’t offer him arbitration after the season.

Until he breaks a week later. The Yankees have already been burned by the Mets once. Beltran is absolutely the type of guy who you should expect to be injured, and to trade and take that salary? Buyer beware. The guy is good though, so he will move, and if he does go anywhere, I’d say the DH is the best position for him at this point.

Will there be any draft picks tied to Beltran should the Mets (or any team acquiring him) offer him arbitration in the off season? The answer to that question will impact the value a team has to give up especially if the Mets are expected to kick in some money to make a trade.

He might be a good choice for the Yankees at DH as he switch hits and the right field porch should be inviting to him. It’s time for the Yankees to get rid of Andruw (strikeout) Jones. This guy is so over the hill it’s not funny.

that situation being for the Puerto Rican team in the Little League World Series. I am a huge Beltran fan, but he can’t run at all these days, his knees are completely shot. Balls that would have been triples a couple years ago are barely stand up doubles these days. He can still catch anything hit to his general are, but his knees make his range very small.
