The D-Train is back on the tracks: Jerry Crasnick reports that the Reds are recalling Dontrelle Willis and will have him start this Sunday against the Brewers.

When last we saw Willis, he was completing the finishing touches on a three-year span in which he struck out 82 batters and walked 119 in 123 1/3 innings. And a lot of those strikeouts were a function of guys seeing Willis’ slow and lifeless stuff and getting a bit too overconfident in hacking at it. In other words, even when he looked good for an inning or two, it was for all of the wrong reasons.
Willis’ numbers in Louisville have been a different story this year: 2.63 ERA and 67/20 strikeout to walk ratio in 75 1/3 innings.  Given how poorly Edinson Volquez has done in the slot Willis is filling, he’s certainly worth a shot, no?

most definitely worthh a shot. unlike volquez Willis has worked hard at getting his act together and getting another shot. hopefully they leave that clown in the minors untill he posts some numbers like that. no reasonable person can claim the rangers did not come out on top in the deal that sent Josh Hamilton to them for volquez. you need to look no further than the back of his baseball card than to see the reason why the rangers were so willing to get rid of him. the guy will not win 20 more games in his career let alone in a season, meanwhile Hamilton has already won a MVP award. if you are going to give thumbs down this at least try and give a reply as to how and why you think a guy who has been sent to the minors now 3 times is somehow better than the guy who is a MVP. and yes I know the reds needed pitching but they got volquez so how did that help them?
