Coming into this series (playing in Philly, Doc, Lee, and Hamels going vs. a rookie, Hanson, and an aging Lowe, a banged-up Chipper, no Prado), all I wanted was 1 win to keep the deficit at 3.5. And that’s what I got. Could’ve just as easily won 2 of 3 (Friday night’s game), just as Philly could’ve just as easily swept (yesterday’s game). Before today, it was a great back-and-forth series. Tremendous pitching, several terrific defensive plays, and clutch HRs ruled the day and neither team could keep a lead to save their lives. It was a lot of fun to watch.

Hopefully next time they face off, both teams are perfectly healthy so we can see even better baseball.

It’s not that werth is “a whole lot better than he is doing”, it’s that werth was lucky enough to play on a team (Phillies) where he was an OK supporting player. He was not the reason the Phillies to the series in 08,09. He was just an ok player.

Werth is what he is, and this is what he is!

They just straight up destroyed the Braves today, and when the phillies fans in the stands started doing the tomohawk chopping in the 8th inning that just sealed the deal for me. What a way to end the 1st half.

As noted in the Phillies post game, that .229 average of Martinez is better than Jayson Werth. I said it in another post, is Cole Hamels the best pitcher in baseball?
