It is one of the sublime inanities of this software that if I show you the strokes to do it, the marks will disappear. So I gotta explain it to you.

You begin with a left-pointed "v" which you will find above the comma key. Then you type the lowercase letter b, then a right-pointed "v" which you will find above the period key. Then you type the word(s) you want to boldface - ie, edit function. Then you retype the left-pointed V, a forward slash (/), the lowercase b again, and the right-pointed V again, and you got it. Try it.

Bautista's 31 HR's would represent 62% of the A's team total. Think about that.

The A's rank next to last in team OBA, at .299, 28th in runs, and 28th in slugging (thanks to Seattle for propping the A's up.) Sure, the team is 3rd in ERA, but that's offset by being 28th in errors (meaning, a lot of unearned runs).

There is a huge difference between being able to score just enough to win (like the Giants) and not being able to score at all, like the A's. Yesterday's game was a perfect example.

The A's had six hits, all singles, and did not score. The Rangers had 5 hits. But the one that counted was Beltre's 2 run blast that plated Hamilton after he'd walked. That 2-0 score held up in the 100 degree midday Dallas heat.

The A's managed to lose in a different way each game aagainst the Rangers, and never really suffered a blow-out, but still, 0-4 against the division leaders is never good. There are no bright spots. Jemile Weeks' OPS is .715, with an OBA of .313. That was third highest in the starting lineup yesterday. He's the leadoff guy, with .313. That's why Ranger pitcher Matt Harrison could look like Doc Halladay yesterday: there are no difficult outs in the A's lineup.

Thank goodness for the Tour de France, and thank goodness the EPL starts next month.

....TO the strange attractor.

Edit function, dammit!

Okay gang, enough is enough. We're going to start demonstrating like a bunch of Syrian dissidents for our edit function. Let's get out into the streets. I want <i>everybody</i> who wants an edit function to follow this post with this demand, and to keep on doing it until the current regime accedes. Ready?

You don't mention that the Curmudgeonly Undead has guided the Feesh to a five game winning streak? That they haven't lost a game since Mike Cameron joined the team, inspiring them with his torrid 1-for-10 performance? That they're close enough the strange attractor again to feel like they can reach up and grab it from the top of a fold-out aluminum stepladder, but that first they must overcome their fear of being struck by a shmeagle?
