Please do not bring this a**hole into Red Sox Nation. I cannot stand to look at him hack up oysters every other breath. He’s an overpaid baby who throws tantrums when things don’t go his way. Easily in my top 5 least favorite MLB players.

can you imagine Garza at Fenway? They took the spittoons out about 10 years after they built Fenway . . . the guy is a spit factory and is so disgusting even I, a cigar smoking male fool, can’t stand to watch him.

Doubtful that trade would happen , but you never know , Garza has been a Red Sox killer in the past few years , he pitches pretty damn good in the AL East from what i remember , aside from watching him spit over and over ever 5 nights , i would sure as hell love a guy like Garza on my team.

There is NO possible way the Cubs give up Garza for anything less than Boston’s ENTIRE farm system. That’s basically what they gave up to get Matty G…

Maybe for the same reasons he was for the Twins and for the Rays. You can say all you want about the trades and teams’ needs at the times, but when a player has that kind of talent, is still relatively cheap/young and under team control, AND has consistently performed better than the average Joe, and is now looking to be possibly moved for the third time in 4 years (this story would never have made it online if the Sox had called and the Cubs said “not interested”; so odds are they’re both at least willing to consider it), there’s a reason. The Twins’ was that he had a grating personality, clashed with the coaching staff, and was immature. Having just dealt with the head case Kyle Loshe for several years prior to that (nice to see that he seems to finally have “woken up” with the Cards the last few years), the Twins cut bait.

You are assuming that the Cubs are a well run organization. What they should do is package him with one of the lousy contracts/players they are stuck, (Soriano/Zambrano, etc.), and really clean house. The Red Sox are the logical ones to do this because of they win today mentality before Big Popi is exposed for juicing again.

I think the Cubs would have to be bowled over, and I’m not sure if the Sox have the prospects to truly bowl them over. Would love to see it, though, no matter the prospect cost.

Fielder/Pujols may beyond the pricetag, and the organization got in this position in the first place because their big contracts aged poorly. The other thing is, the guys Cubs are willing to trade (Ramirez, Soriano, etc) may bring salary relief, but likely wouldn’t bring back major prospects. The valuable guys on the trade market would be your Marshalls, Marmols, Sotos, and Garzas.

Don’t the Cubs have something like $60M coming off the books this year? Use that to restock the team and keep a good pitcher around, especially if he’s still under contract.

I agree that they’d have to be bowled over with a package to trade away Garza, but at the same time, the Cubs have so many holes on the roster and are so far away from contention that dealing him for a 3-4 good prospects may be in the teams best interests.

Why would they be interested in Garza when Kevin Millwood is still in Triple A Pawtucket he’s just a phone call away.
