Uh, that part in the photo came after he bumped Mike Muchlinski, the umpire who made the original (and correct) call. In the photo Theriot is being restrained from earning an even longer suspension; he should thank that umpire.

That was one of the most over-the-top reactions I’ve ever seen, even if the call had been wrong. We’re talking about an incredibly close play.

There’s no way The Riot goes off that bad if he the call was correct, that makes zero sense.

As for the suspension, although semi deserved – it’s not like he kicked the ump in the back of the head and ended his career….

I must be seeing a completely different replay because Theriot was off the bag and didn’t drag his foot across the bag as he contended when he had the ball in his glove. So, it wasn’t a “blown” call. Schumacher should have been suspended for the awful throw.

I thought he would’ve been suspended for longer, but maybe the fact that the call was blown was a mitigating factor.

I didnt see the argument, but based on the photo above, when you are being bear hugged by an umpire, it is difficult not to make contact with him.
