The Cards are currently tied with 5 other teams for 4th in 2011, so Falcon could have stated they are 9th. Numbers 2-30 are reasonably close, with Baltimore at the bottom with 21, and Toronto at #2 with 41. There is only one true statistical anomaly. The Red Sox have plunked 54 hitters. No wonder they call it BeanTown.

If those numbers were: 16th, 16th, 16th and 16th, THEN you could say they don't hit more batters than other teams. But it seems like they are pretty beanball-happy just looking at your own numbers.

ok so I guess there is a separate set of rules they play by when they play the reds right? it seems whenever they play the reds they have something to complain about. if you read my other posts pointing those out then you know there is no denying it. while stealing bases while ahead has not been 1 of them rest assured if the reds did in fact steal a base in the 9th inning with any lead they would whine about about it. I can if you would like remind you of the times and even if you don't I will anyway.last year there was the Arroyo cheats because he beat the cards, the balls are doctured according the cards and no one else who plays the reds and don't forget carpenter whining after a loss to them about the mound and of coarse the smoke from fireworks as the reason he lost. this coming from a guy who is like 85- against them. then there was the whining about trying to hit albert earlier this year because the always on target closer dared throw the ball inside. oh wait I forgot Cuteo had to kick his way out of a fight after being pinned up the wall by the cardinals. yea it was his fault larue had to retire after his 10th concussion. whiny bitches!

Ugg. How many times do I have to go over this:
Cardinals rank in hit batsman:
2011: 4th
2010: 13th
2009: 8th
2008: 9th

The Cardinals don't hit batters more than anyone else. There was a section in the god-awful Three Nights In August that mentioned LaRussa throwing at the other team when he felt they intentionally threw at his time, like 99% of managers do (which makes it no less stupid lest you think I'm defending it). Somehow this got turned into an insane theory that Cardinals pitchers hit guys for looking at them cockeyed.

I wonder how st. larussa and the cards would feel about somebody stealing on them with that big a lead in the 9th inning? something tells me they would be throwing at somebody or whining about it to the press after the game.

In 2009, Pujols and Molina combined for 25 steals in 32 attempts. Which is remarkable, because they are the two slowest motherf**kers on the planet.

Just so you know, Molina is a base stealing machine. 9 in 2009, and 8 in 2010. Teams are starting to catch on though as he is just 2 for 7 in 2011.
