I blame TLR. He had the good turf put down for the top of the 1st so the Cardinal fielders have good footing. Then when the Cardinals came to bat he had the grounds crew pull up the good turf and put the new stuff down so the Astros would slip and fall. Repeat after every half inning.

People may scoff because no one can remember seeing the grounds crew change the turf every half inning. But it’s LaRussa and we all know he’s capable of any and all tricks.
