Not saying Snider isn’t talented (he may put up big numbers some day), however, Snider has not come close to apporaching the type of seasons Rasmus has put up. In fact, Snider has been rather dissapointing thus far in his major league career. Plus Rasmus plays CF, a premium position. Do you think the Cardinals are just going to hand over Rasmus for Edwin Jackson and some mid-level prospect? If that was the case every team in baseball would be making a play for Rasmus right now, not just Toronto.

I disagree. This would be a perfect calling for a demotion. He needs to learn respect so he can re-learnt he fundamentals of baseball again. If he has options left (which I believe he does) they ought to use them.

If I were running the Cardinals I’d still option Rasmus down to the minors. How far? Well that depends on how bad his demeanor is. Young players get sent down to the minors to learn or re-learn various things (see Snider, Travis) so why not send Rasmus down to the minors to learn respect for the coaching staff? If this were any other job beside baseball Rasmus would be hitting the unemployment lines right now.

When AA does a trade there can be many moving parts. I wonder if Rasmus would be flipped to Colorado for a certain starting pitcher.

You echo a lot of peoples feelings here in stl. Edwin Jackson just can’t seem to figure it out and while Dave Duncan can now give it a shot there is nothing that can justify this deal if it happens. That being said, I would still like to see what else we can bring in to make the deal look a little better.

Edwin Jackson?

This is ridiculous.

Right now rookie righthander Lance Lynn is a better rotation option going forward than is Jackson, and he is under team control through 2016.

Why take on an expensive, mediocre, inconsistent rent-a-pitcher for a 24-year-old top-10 centerfielder who is also under team control through 2014?

Who the hell is running the Cardinals??!!??
