I don’t understand the criticisms of him. It seems like every criticism of him could go Evan Longoria’s way as well. He has had a bad 90 games….big deal.

Sounds like he handled it pretty well to me. He said it should stay in the club house, and not be said in the public realm.

Conine probably should have never made the comment. A guy like Ramirez, who we know to be a hot-head at times, can’t handle it. Some guys comments like that work with. But I don’t think it’s him.

I like how he doesn’t really deny anything. His biggest arguments are that there are worse people out there and you shouldn’t talk bad about other people in your organization. Who knows, maybe he’s just a child that needs to be goaded into playing up to somewhere near his potential, which is my opinion of exactly what Conine was trying to do.

Maybe Niner lit a fire under Hanley’s ass. From a performance standpoint, whether he did so deliberately or inadvertently doesn’t matter. Hanley was in another funk, 2 or 3 for his last 21 at-bats going into tonight, so the timing was pretty good. Anyway, it’s so quiet around here that it took a straying mantis to inspire much interest last night. Another pick-on-Hanley episode (remember the backbiting between Uggla and Hanley a couple years ago?) would be kinda like the cannon that Papa Monzano fires off in San Lorenzo in the morning to wake everyone up. Whatever it takes.

You will note that, unlike Luke Scott, my head did not burst into flames when I alluded to Vonnegut.

Samson is a DB, he most likely encouraged Jeff to trash Hanley. The citizens of Miami should seek legal action against the Marlins for their continually lying about their finances and rigging the votes with payoffs for the new stadium. Hanley should hope he gets traded after next season. Once that ballpark opens up it will be empty by June.

At least he didn’t use the “He threw me under the bus” metaphor. That was old the second time I heard. Apparently, anytime anyone who is criticized has been thrown under a bus.
