But probably the best the Nats could do for a guy who would likely have been gone after the season, and who wouldn’t get them draft picks. Mike Rizzo pointed that out in commenting on the trade during the Nats-Mets telecast.

Rizzo said he sees Walters as someone who could bat 2nd or 6th with a bit of pop, possibly playing 2B. I suspect he will be happy if the kid develops into a utility guy who can hit well enough to have a long Major League career.
