Houston Astros v Pittsburgh Pirates AP

Forget all that stuff we said earlier.

According to FOX Sports’ Ken Rosenthal, the Braves are on the verge of acquiring outfielder Michael Bourn from the Astros for four minor leaguers.

Bourn, 28, has hit .303/.363/.403 this season with 26 doubles and seven triples in 473 plate appearances. He has also tallied 39 stolen bases in 46 attempts.

Bourn is likely to serve as the Braves’ regular center fielder and leadoff man down the stretch.

Atlanta currently holds a 4.5-game lead over the Diamondbacks in the National League Wild Card standings. They’re five games behind the Phillies in the NL East.

UPDATE, 9:55 AM: Rosenthal says the deal is “done” and will be announced momentarily.

UPDATE, 10:02 AM: According to ESPN’s Jayson Stark, the Astros will get OF Jordan Schafer, LHP Brett Oberholtzer, RHP Paul Clemens and RHP Juan Abreu. Seems like an excellent deal for Atlanta.

Any rumblings on what they gave up to get him? It is a very good deal for the Braves. Bourn is a good player and should stabilize CF for the next season + for them. To be honest, I am glad they did something.

Great move for the Braves! They get 1) a true leadoff guy 2) speed 3) a true CF 4) someone who knows the NL east. 5). Gave up very little.

Ju-u-ust what the Feesh needed – another divisional rival improving itself while they obliviously continue exploring the thermal vents near the bottom of the NL East.

And the tube worms you see clustered around those vents are the Nationals.

Metabolizing sulfur in the form of Jim Riggleman’s memoirs….

Sigh. How is Wade allowed to further sabotage the team on his way out the door. Hoping for Andrew Friedman next season.

Hmm…the Braves are going to need someone like JASON Bourne come playoff time.
