It took 12 starts, but 20-year-old Astros rookie Jordan Lyles finally picked up his first big-league victory yesterday. And then he got his first big-league pie to the face:

Of course. It’s all pie is good for: assault, battery and using as a shaving product. Cake on the other hand is rarely wasted like this.

Note that guys never get hit in the face with cheesecakes. Because cheesecake, unlike other baked goods, is too precious to be wasted in such a frivolous manner.

Because pie is so nasty no one in their right mind would EAT it. Ewwwww.

Heh, heh, heh; that’s all pie is good for. Splattering everywhere, especially on a rookie. Man he looks happy with all that shaving cream on his face. They must be saving him a piece of cake in the dugout.

How did this get a thumbs down? Is there no sensitivity, no pity in this crowd for a man whose childhood must have been twisted in some way by a terrible pie experience? Shame!

Wow, they really got him. That’s no normal ‘pie to the face’, did they use a whip-cream cannon?

Congratulations Jordan. Anyone who has watched this kid pitch understands that he should and would have 8 or 9 victories with any support at all. Only 20, impressive stuff.

More milestones for the youngster:
First ML win. Check.
First ML shaving cream pie. Check. But savor this one, because wins will be few and far between, given who’s playing behind him.
