Juan Nicasio

Struck in the head by an Ian Desmond line drive last night, Colorado pitcher Juan Nicasio underwent neck surgery this morning and the Rockies issued a statement saying he’s “resting comfortably.”

Desmond’s comebacker hit Nicasio on the right side of his head, instantly knocking him to the ground. He was carted off the field on a stretcher, but was able to move his limbs and according to the Associated Press today’s surgery was “to stabilize a fracture.”

We’ll have further updates as more information is known about Nicasio’s status.

I’m wondering if he hurt his neck when he hit the ground. It looks like the ball knocked him out for a second and he went down head first into the ground.

Best wishes to Juan and a speedy recovery.

It was pretty late here in DC when I was watching the game, when it happened it really jared me and I was glad he was alert afterward because it really looked like it hit him in the temple area. Hopefully he will have a full recovery. Our prayers are with him.
