Oh, but his next contract will. Unless the Nationals are planning on having the worst team in baseball in 2016-2017 I don’t see anyone going crazy to offer him anything longer than the 5 years the Mets are allegedly planning to offer.

If the Mets are a little shy about offering him more than five years, I won’t blame them. At the same time, we all know there will be one team that will offer him seven years for no good reason.
