He remains on the active roster, but Hanley Ramirez is out of the Marlins’ lineup today for the fifth straight game after spraining his shoulder last week.

Emilio Bonifacio is again starting at shortstop, with Greg Dobbs taking his spot at third base and Alfredo Amezaga in at second base for the injured Omar Infante.

Oh, and Logan Morrison is also out of the lineup after needing five stitches in his knee following a collision with Bonifacio yesterday. All of which means the Marlins will probably score 10 runs tonight against Derek Lowe and the Braves.

If by some miracle they do, they will give back eleven in the field. Right now, this team reminds me a lot of a broken-down Feeshing trawler, or maybe more of the venerable toiletship (which should not be confused with veteran leadership) Deutschland from Gravity’s Rainbow.

If the outfield contains DeWayne Wise and Mike Cameron, most of that hemorrhaging is likely to come in the infield, but despite all that priceless major league experience in the outfield the combined .190 batting average of those illustrious gentlemen should not be expected to generate a lot of offense, you know? It’s raining again tonight, so there’s no reason not to expect last night’s funkengrueven circus Volkswagen rallye afield.

By the way, raise your hand if you remember who the 2009 rookie of the year was.

PS – Hanley left his accursed .342 amulet on his nighttable yesterday when he went in for a medical check on his shoulder. Unbeknownst to him, a small rat climbed up on the nighttable and approached the amulet, which began to pulse, glow and thrummmmm-rmmmm-rmmmm. The rat sniffed a bit, rolled its head around, and went looking for another overpriced waterside condo to live in. If you can buck up under the rotten karma that goes with it, a gift from Scrooge McLoria will clear the rats from your home. I assume it must be pretty effected against roaches, too.

PPS – the Feesh are about to go down 8-3 to the Bravos. That dull thud you hear will be the Teal Titans exclusively reoccupying last place and forcing the Gnats upward through the pneumatic pressure of the gasses of decomposition the Feesh expel.
