I was saying it constantly before the trade deadline, not worth trading for when he’s a rental who could break down on you at any point in time. Missy Mike was wrong about him, as were many people who listen to him, as were many people who read this. The Phillies went and got pance without giving up all they had for him, and they’re gonna have him for a while, and look what he’s done for the team so far.

NinJr. only floated that so-called rumor so nobody saw what he was actually doing. There’s no way he would’ve brought him here. But he’s all ninja-like, so who knows?

Because the guy, supposedly, has all the talent but not the ‘it’ it takes to be a winner and carry a team. A-fraud crumbled with the tag and only succeeded until he jumped on the Yankee wagon, along with all the other All-Stars. To get Beltran alone and think that move was enough was iffy but sometimes that’s what it takes. He’s damaged goods, like Reyes. Can catch lightning in a bottle for a short period of time but who knows how long that will last. Let Boras get him the next contract with his ‘book’, 2 games on, 4 games off, etc. That I’d love to see.

Why all the thumbs down? I’ve never gotten the hate for Beltran. I’ve never followed one of his teams closely, but JoePo has written a fair amount about how hard Beltran works.

It seems he’s been blamed for being hurt (he’s actually played with regularity until the last two years) and for team collapses, during which he’s hit pretty well. And that one passed ball… Sure sounds like Narrative taking over for reality to me.

But I’m a Giants fan. I’ll probably hate the guy in two months.

Often times the best trade is the one you don’t make. They could experience the same kind of miracle as they did last year, but I really don’t think the Giants would put up enough offense to advance through the playoffs this year no matter who they had traded for because if that player was really any good he would just get pitched around. Giving up a top prospect for a washed up player with no knees was just desperate.

But I like it. Go D’backs!

Whoa Chris, settle down. Not just ANY player gets to wear the “overrated” badge. You have to hit at least .347 BA with a .981 OPS, 3 HRs and 9 RBIs in 12 games in order to have the privilege. That’s a rough metric, we will adjust it better as time goes on.
