You gotta hand it to the cubbies – year-in-year-out they are always finding some new way to screw themselves. How long has it been going on now? More than 100 years since they won it all and they continue to come up with new ways.

THAT is innovation, and the fans continue to pay for it. THAT is loyalty.

Quade is so far out of his league, he needs to look up to see A-ball. he has allowed most of the team to walk around like zombies for most of the season and left one guy who wants to win hanging out to dry. I don’t condone anybody walking out on their teammates. I can see where a competitor like Zambrano might have had enough, he needed to go about it differently though. The Cubs need to look at the cause more than the reaction.

Don’t know if they could negotiate a mutual buyout for about $10 Mill. Think they could live with that to make him go away. Total drag on the club.

Quade, looked like an idiot last night as the whole situation went down. He just left his #1 pitcher out there to be shelled. Then he acted confused in the press conference as to what triggered Zambrano. Although Zambrano is a couple of eggs short of a dozen, Quade needs to give off the appearance that he is managing his team.

@Luke; his 19.5 million option is contingent on his placing in Cy voting; unless he has the comeback season of the ages next year it’s not likely to vest.

The drama continues….Mark Grace is now saying the Cubs should have hired Ryne Sandberg instead of Quade…. Wonder how long Sandberg would have put up with Z’s act…..or if all this would have even happened with Ryno in the manager’s office…..

Thanks. Since there’s less than two months left in the season, we’re talking about a prorated portion of his $17.8 salary for 2011 plus his 2012 salary. Works out to about 24 million, more or less.

I’m pretty sick of Zambrano. Guy used to be entertaining in a head-case sort of way but now he’s like a giant spoiled child. Plus he might have injured Larry with his ‘wild pitch’. I hope he stays retired and, if he tries to pull a Costanza, I hope the Cubs do what Costanza’s old boss did; bye-bye loser.
