Seeing as how their is a real possibility of Mauer moving to right field in the near future, i dont think it’s that big of a deal. He seemed to handle it well last night.

So if Hughes doesn’t get there during the game what happens if someone gets hurt during the game? Cuddy can’t play, Kubel is out of town and Tolbert can’t swing the bat. Would Slowey have to play? The way the season is going, it will happen that way.

So, Gardenhire thinks it is worth risking his best player’s fragile knees to keep Drew Butera’s bat in the lineup? Send out the backup infielder, Butera, or hell, let Capps play RF if it is really an emergency, but why risk throwing Mauer out there?

At least with a lefty on the mound all of the Yankee’s switch hitters and platoon players will be hitting from the right side and pulling the balls in left. Unless they take the same approach any good softball player takes when he knows where the green outfielder is playing.

Bad enough that he screwed up. In this era of airport proctological exams just to get on an airplane, how in the holy hell did the airline people screw up sufficiently to allow him to get in the wrong gate?
