I have to wonder if Gillick would be open to the job of MLB Commissioner?

Some improvements that get talked about might finally get done, such as an umpire in a replay booth, or a re-alignment plan, or more equitable penalties for brawls.

Pat Gillick is in one of those enviable places in life — he can decide where he works (or if he works). Whether he agrees to run the Cubs may depend on whether he thinks ownership is committed to winning, and is willing to leave him alone as he rebuilds the team.

Their contracts don’t change if they get traded.. Aramis could have been traded but he didnt want to go. It would not change his pay

Because they’re already being paid. Once their contract is up, they’re gone………Keep an eye on how many free agents the Cubs sign and the dollar amount of the contract.

If the players don’t like it there so much then how come numerous all star caliber players will not waive their no trade clause to leave?

There’s nothing attractive about the Cubs job at all. Wrigley has a lot to do with because its an absolute dump. The players can’t stand it there so the team has to over pay just to get players interest. This team will not win anything until the stadium problem is addressed.
