absolutely right TMTTSE. BEcause Rich Harden is likely to get injured soon the A’s should just eat the $250K he is owed for the rest of the year and call up a MLB minimum guy for about $75K. Willingham is making a bunch too, they should let someone else take that contract. Ans Matsui and Dejesus.

Maybe thye should stop playing at all, that would save money on Payroll. that would be the best idea, yet. I’ll get Brad pitt on the phone and pitch you new “moneyball” idea, having no roster is the new market inefficiency!

Harden has had a semi-weird run since he came off the DL.

He alternates 5IP, 4ER, 4/3 K/BB type performances with 7IP, 2ER, 8/1 K/BB type performances.

That’s been the rumor….even if he was claimed and traded, the A’s and Harden have mutual interest for 2012.

Why should they give him away? He’s pitching just fine and only making $1.5M this season, and the A’s aren’t bursting with SP options right now. There’s no reason for the A’s to just hand him over, let alone try to dump him at any cost. I understand the A’s aren’t playing for a playoff spot, but they still need five dudes who can start games.

It was rather obvious that a team ranking lower than the Yankees would put in a claim. Since the Indians gave up their 2 best pitching prospects for a starter who has not delivered, I am not surprised that they put in a claim. However, having given away their 2 best pitching prospects, they probably had to lowball Oakland. Harden might just resign with Oakland next year.
