Getty Images Well, Tom Ricketts strongly implied it in a passive way anyway, saying when asked if he was open to Carlos Zambano pitching for the Cubs again, “I have a hard time imagining that.”
Of course, given that this is the guy who has final signoff on whether the Cubs release Zambrano, one would figure that he’s a bit more certain than that.

Ricketts actually stopped by our section last night as he wandered the upper deck handing out baseballs to kids. He was a remarkably good sport: a guy about ten rows behind us shouted, “Hey, Mr. Ricketts, come here and sit down a minute. We need to talk.” And Ricketts did. Well, he didn’t sit down, but he went and talked with the guy for a bit, thoroughly flummoxing his two 70-year-old security dudes.
No word on what he had to say about Big Z, though.

While I’ll never be a Cubs fan (born and bred Cards fan), even I will admit that that’s a very cool thing for an owner to do. Props where props are due.

Now we find out if Ricketts is going to pit on his big boy pants or continue to piss down both legs just like his team pissing away another season.

I think Ricketts was probably hoping that Jim Hendry would squash Zambrano on the way down from the window.
