Well, it makes about as much sense as Poker. They're both card games, they can both be gambled on. Why not?

Just seems like Sports League offices are attempting to control every aspect of a players personal life, and I don't really see the need. As long as they're behaving and not tarnishing the name of the sport or the League itself (though, I'd argue that some heads of leagues do that themselves), what's the harm?

A-Rod knows what's legal, and what isn't. If he effs up and crosses a line, definitely punitive action is deserved...I just don't see how playing Poker amounts to that, though, to be fair, maybe there's more to it than we're hearing...but, it certainly doesn't seem like it.

I rarely ever end up on A-Rods side of the argument, but I gotta say it's kinda stupid that the League gets involved in players lives, to such detail. Gambling on games, sure that's bad, I understand how that's a conflict of interest...but Poker? Are they worried the table stakes are going to be him throwing the game or something? Just doesn't make any sense to me.

There's plenty to nitpick about A-rod, but I could care less if he's playing poker, sure if drugs are involved, that's no good (if he's using them...which doesn't appear to be the case here). It's freekin cards, for crying out loud. What next? League-wide ban on Cribbage playing?

If you want me to tell it straight, MLB is probably bluffing. I mean, ARod's heart is in the game. He's one to club the ball, and because of this, he's flush with cash. He'll raise his game come postseason, though his exploits are always below the fold of NY papers. At least that's what I've always felt.
