The Phillies are in a similar situation, with the hurricane heading toward the Mid-Atlantic states in time for their series at home against the Marlins. While the Phils and Marlins have a common day off on 9/15 that could be used as a make-up date, it is the Phillies’ only off day in September. It wouldn’t be a big surprise to see the Phillies try to move up their Sunday game, which as of now looks like a sure washout.

You make it a Friday double-header, you miss all the people who bought tickets for a night game but can’t make it Friday afternoon because they’re at work. You lose concession revenue. Technically not “gates,” since I’m sure the games are already sold out, but Francona is a big league manager, not a semantics wizard.
