UPDATE: Liriano has been placed on the disabled list, with the Twins calling up Scott Diamond from Triple-A for tomorrow’s spot start.

Francisco Liriano, who spent time on the disabled list in May and June with shoulder problems and has a lengthy history of assorted arm injuries, left today’s start against the Orioles after two innings with a strained shoulder.

Alex Burnett replaced Liriano in the third inning and then tomorrow’s scheduled starter, Anthony Swarzak, replaced him in the fourth inning, so the Twins’ rotation may be in for a major shakeup.

Or at least another major shakeup, as Scott Baker and Nick Blackburn are already on the disabled list.

Can they just put the entire team on the DL and be done with it? Seriously…just pack it up for 2011.

Come on now, they’ve got a draft spot to play for…or something?!

Liriano is the bane of my fantasy SPs’ existence…can’t keep him, but can’t drop him, sure as hell can’t trade him. Ugh. Looks like a DL slot just opened up for him.

At what point do you just take the trainer out to the mound before a game and just shoot him to dispel demons? If you go back and look at the team they’ve always had some trouble with a few glass guys, but dear heavens this is just absurd. How many guys are going to end up eligible for batting or pitching crowns? (I’m not even asking about how poorly they’ve played, just how much.)

So we are down to Valencia and Cuddy being the only starting 9 not to hit the DL ( and Cuddy could have as he recently missed 8 or 9 games)

Dunesing and Pavano for SP have been safe and Burnett and Doumtrait, I might be missing one but who the heck cares at this point.

Can Bill Smith please return that ancient Hawaiian artifact he found this offseason, it ain’t working.

If I were Michael Cuddyer, I’d start working on my off-speed pitches. The way things are going he’s gonna join the starting rotation by the middle of next week.
