Sorry tjv, you are late to the party here. I’ve said all along that the bulk of the success of the A’s under the Great and Powerful Beane was due to Sandy Alderson, Beane’s predecessor.

And yes, Beane has an ownership taste of the A’s and the San Jose ‘Quakes, the MLS team also being run into the ground by the reverse-Midas touch of Wolff/Fisher. He would have to divest the A’s ownership.

I would love for Beane to go to the Cubs, not because I have any optimism about what the A’s would look like under a new GM, not with the Angelos Way running rampant at the Mausoleum, but like Jason, I’d like to see what he could do in a bigger market.

That said, I’d like to see him run things with some cash to spend…of course the Cubs have a LOT of cash tied up despite their big payroll so they ain’t as rich as they seem.
