John Farrell to miss tonight’s game after all

John Farrell

This morning’s report about Blue Jays manager John Farrell having pneumonia also had him rejoining the team today. Which seemed a bit nuts given that, you know, pneumonia is rather serious. Apparently cooler heads have prevailed, however, as Farrell is now reported to be missing tonight’s game against the Rays.

Presumably bench coach Don Wakamatsu will fill in for Farrell who, in this latest report, is now set to come back tomorrow.  I give that as much chance as there not being any more hurricane cancellations, but I suppose that’s between Farrell and the health professionals of his choice.

It will be Wakamatsu tonight. When Farrell returns depends on his health. I presume that the problem was caught early.

I just noticed on PFT that ESPN The Magazine is responsible for the “White” Michael Vick story. These are the same clowns who published the claim that the Blue Jays are cheating. That outfit seems to be more interested in sensationalism than journalistic integrity. In the good old days, it used to be called “yellow journalism”. Somebody should sue the pants off them.

Fortunately HBT treats preposterous stories such as those in a healthy skeptical manner- oh wait.
