Those great stats against the Yanks may be why they signed him. Hated that signing from day one. AJ has been long on potential and short on actual production since the day he arrived in the league. His early years in the NL fooled everyone.

The way he is ending his last two years is troubling. If the Yankees lose big it is inevitably because he is on the mound. Two more years of this is going to be painful to watch.

Time to set the five man rotation at CJ, Colon, Hughes, Garcia and Nova. At least they give us a chance to win every night. AJ does not.

Burnett's ERAs from best to worst:

4.04

Without looking it up, which were his two FA years?

Truth is that his four best years were when he was younger and in the NL. I don't know about you, but that makes a better case to me than the idea that one very good contract year (the 3.44) and one okay contract year (the 4.07) means he's a contract year pitcher.

Same idiot arguments were made about Adrian Beltre, who's putting up his 7th 20 HR non-contract-year season.
