Marlins manager Jack McKeon told reporters prior to tonight’s game that Hanley Ramirez was on track to return from the disabled list Friday, but those plans are effectively on hold.

According to Joe Frisaro of MLB.com, the Marlins’ TV crew is saying that Ramirez left a minor league rehab game with High-A Jupiter tonight after feeling more discomfort in his left shoulder. He is headed back to Miami for further evaluation.

Ramirez, 27, has appeared in just 92 games this season, batting .243/.333/.379 with a .712 OPS over 385 plate appearances.

Forget seeing him this season. He’ll be impossible to shop this weenter unless he heals enough to play weenter ball in Mexico or the Caribbean and excels. Look like spring training ’12 is going to be a showcase for Hanley, unless it turns out he needs surgery that racks him up for a year.
