I vote not voyeuristic. It's not like you found this information up by digging through his private medical records. His family has been very forthcoming and open with the Kid's health status updates, and you are right, he is a beloved baseball player. I have many fond memories from my childhood watching him play in the 80s and he's a great guy, so many positive thoughts going his way.

Hang in there, Kid. I recall during the 1986 season (and the 88 as well) Carter was all sorts of banged up and bandaged and went out every day and hit a ton. Nothing seemed to get on his wit. And when he did have the occasional slump, he never copped any attitudes at the beat writers. I am going to hazard a guess that he's handling his current adversities much the way he did the ones he played through. Get well, Gary. We're all pullin' for ya.

Have to say that when I was at the new Mets Hall of Fame and Museum last night, I found myself thinking about Carter's illness when I saw his plaque. And was glad he'd been doing somewhat better. So here's one vote in favor of keeping us posted.

(Nice little display the Mets have, BTW. About 25 plaques; displays about the two World Series wins, the post-9/11 game, and Tom Seaver; clips of broadcasters; and the two WS trophies. Did you know there is nothing at all engraved on the trophy to tell you which of the two teams won?)
