proudlycanadian.... Lawrie is impressive, this guy is a real budding star. I watch all three games on Yes and Lawrie really impressed all the Yankee announcers. He seems to have it all, offense, defense, and just an all around star in the making. He should be around for along time. This is the kind of player good teams are built around, and I loved his 11 inning homerun today, it was a thing of beauty.

Beckett's injury did not cost the Red Sox the game as it was scoreless until the bottom of the 11th. The game did speed up a bit after Beckett left the game, although Varitek took his sweet time giving the signs to the pitchers. The Jays have a couple of 21 year old rookies who impressed in the game. We knew about Lawrie and he has been better than advertised. Henderson Alvarez has been a revelation. He was not intimidated by the Red Sox hitters and increased his runless streak to 14 innings. As far as Beckett is concerned, I wonder if we will see a repeat of Curt "Bloody Sox" Schilling?

Im surprised they removed Beckett from the game, after all, he takes so much time between pitches the sprain could have healed itself and hardly slowed him from his normal pitching routine.

Well it looks like the Brett Lawrie-for-Overlord onslaught continues. So, for the re-cap: Alverez > Beckett, Aceves = Jansen, Papelbon > Bautista when the game's on the line, Frank Francisco = Papelbon (I can hardly believe I can type that without howling in laughter), and Langly British Columbia's own Brett "Mad Beaver Wrestler" Lawrie > Dan "Beaver Bait" Wheeler.

What a gem of a game. Now if someone could ask Lawrie to NOT Kendrys Morales his way into home plate when he walks off a team that would be great. Kid's got a HUGE vertical lead and, as I watched him essentially try to crowd-surf-leap his way to home, I was holding my breath, expecting to see him come up lame, for such is a Beaver Wrestler's luck this season.

Fortunately he survived to touch home with only a mild pummeling handed out by his team mates. The last item to cover is if it's suitable for a guy to trot round the bases doing his best Rolling Stone Forty Licks album cover impression? I bet Lawrie catches a baseball in the ribs tomorrow for that. This IS the Sox and they hit you for just lookin' at them funny.

"It’s unclear how he got hurt, but he couldn’t push off the foot and he came out without trying any warmup pitches."

If I had to guess, I'd say he was rushing his delivery again. Yes, that's sarcasm.

Kid's been just excellent eh? What a nice surprise he's turned out to be. Looks like the Beaver Men have a pretty good starter in this kid to go with Romero. If Morrow can add some accuracy and movement the rotation is really shaping up for next season.

There's no reason to think Beckett won't be fine for the playoffs, with time for tune-up start or two beforehand.

The line-up is healthy and if losing Jenks for the season causes the Red Sox to collapse, they were never going anywhere to begin with.
