that would make sense if he left after the season not in the middle of a pennant race. What looks better on his resume a guy that quit on a very successful team half way through a season or a guy that finished out the year on a world series champion? Of course the championship is hypothetical but you get my point. If he was doing this purely because he was looking to get a job promotion with another team he wouldnt have bailed half way on a promising season.

There will be more to this story. It’s way too sudden and secretive, and it will come out soon enough.
But it’s not about “being the right time” or “pursuing other interests”. Somebody got pissed at somebody else and fired him or got himself fired.

my guess is the same as the writer’s. He’s the assistant on a team with a well established, successful, and popular GM. Seems like he’s just leaving at the top in hopes of filling the GM position for either the Cubs (who fired the GM) or the Chi-Sox (who are rumored to be on the fence with Kenny Williams, or any of the other potential GM jobs that might become available….. Or maybe just maybe he, like Jayson Werth, slept with Chase Utley’s wife (thats a joke of course)

Lamarr’s job was a lot like Capt. Stubing on the Love Boat. Probably not challenging enough. If he wants a challenge, then he’ll want to be checking out current (Cubs) and future (Orioles) openings.

real reason he stepped down is he knows the future isnt too hot in philly with their aging roster and he doesnt want to be the guy who has to rebuild them

My guess the reason he resigned was because he either wanted a larger role in the organization and was turned down or wanted more money. Either way, he’s gone now. We need to find another scouting director.
