The Yankees lineup is … interesting

Do not disturb

Pop quiz, hotshot! You played a game until 2:15 this morning and you have a 1PM start this afternoon.  What do you do? What do you do!!?

Well, if you’re Joe Girardi, you trot out this lineup:

1. Eduardo Nunez SS
2. Russell Martin C
3. Nick Swisher RF
4. Alex Rodriguez 3B
5. Andruw Jones LF
6. Jesus Montero DH
7. Brandon Laird 1B
8. Greg Golson CF
9. Ramiro Pena 2B

Not that they’ll need the offense, what with A.J. Burnett on the bump!

Oh, wait. It’s against the Orioles. Prediction: Yankees 7, Orioles 2

You tell that wildcat behind the wheel not to slow down.

    • ThisIsBaseball - Sep 7, 2011 at 11:49 AM

You have it backwards. BAL 7. NYY 2. You’re giving AJ way too much credit. Though, I do like Nunez leading off.

      • ThisIsBaseball - Sep 7, 2011 at 11:50 AM

Ugh. This wasn’t supposed to be a reply. Sorry. Edit function anyone? Please?

  2. Mr. Jason "El Bravo" Heyward - Sep 7, 2011 at 11:46 AM

That’s just cocky! Talk about no respect for the O’s!!!!! This must be one of the better Yankee moves of the year.

yankee 7-2? You must have had amnesia or be predicting the score after the 1st inning. If AJ’s solid for anything it’s 5-7ER in 3-4innings. Yankees still win in spite of AJ.

60% chance of rain today in the Bronx
70% chance of rain tomorrow in Baltimore
    Clear all weekend in Anaheim

Anyone know the updated Vegas line for this game? I’m wondering how close to a push this one is with that lineup and AJ. I can’t see it being more than -130 for the Yankees.

    • southofheaven81 - Sep 7, 2011 at 12:46 PM

Yeah yeah. See you down in Arizona Bay.

    Craig- It’s almost noon (EST)…..
How is Mom supposed to deliver your balogna sandwich and Fritos if you’re going to hang that sign at the top of the basement stairs?

  6. yankeesgameday - Sep 7, 2011 at 11:55 AM

Heck, that lineup is better than 3/4ths of baseball.

  7. yankeesfanlen - Sep 7, 2011 at 12:00 PM

Who stopped by Casey Stengel’s gravesite this morning?

  8. sdelmonte - Sep 7, 2011 at 12:02 PM

Greg Golson? Isn’t that the name of the SHIELD agent with the glasses in the Marvel Comics films?

Also, The O’s scored 10 runs on Monday.

Then again, they are doing a 9/11 program before the game. Look for the Yanks to be moved to do well for the city.

It’s another one of those veteran hazing games: all of those rooks in the lineup will have to make their first plate appearance wearing Dora the Explorer backpacks.

Could’ve played last night’s game on September 8th….oh wait.

  11. southofheaven81 - Sep 7, 2011 at 1:15 PM

A-Rod must be having serious flashbacks to his Scranton rehab games.

    • dailyrev - Sep 7, 2011 at 1:33 PM

nah, he’s still moaning about the time Damon (not Johnny) beat him for half a million with a lousy pair of jacks…

  12. awriterorsomething - Sep 7, 2011 at 2:06 PM

    4-2 O’s in the third…….

    • addictedzone - Sep 7, 2011 at 2:29 PM

but AJ’s ball has movement today…. Sometimes right past the bat and sometimes right to the wall…but it’s got movement.

      • proudlycanadian - Sep 7, 2011 at 2:33 PM

DirtyHarry1971 also had a movement this afternoon.

  13. Mr. Jason "El Bravo" Heyward - Sep 7, 2011 at 5:12 PM

Extras! Rookie ball is over! Tex, Grandy, and Cano are all in. This one will be over soon enough. Wow B’More you suck worse than your education, legal, and justice systems combined….

    • Mr. Jason "El Bravo" Heyward - Sep 7, 2011 at 5:22 PM

play-by-play: the O’s actually get a run in the 11th!!! can the Yanks tie or win?? Does it matter?

      • Mr. Jason "El Bravo" Heyward - Sep 7, 2011 at 5:24 PM

montero walks, no outs…leaving tex, then cano, then grandy…why do i feel like the yankees are still gonna win??

      • Mr. Jason "El Bravo" Heyward - Sep 7, 2011 at 5:30 PM

        2 outs…Grandy is up!

      • Mr. Jason "El Bravo" Heyward - Sep 7, 2011 at 5:35 PM

Grandy gets a hit, but that only gets Montero to 3rd and this ballgame is ova! Wow, the O’s can actually (barely) win a game against rookies for 9 innings.

Optimist say: The Yankees bench is awesome today!
