Nyjer Morgan is now “Tony Hush”

Nyjer Morgan‘s alter ego — Tony Plush — got him in some trouble on Twitter the other night. So now he’s going with a new moniker:

Also, for those interested in the blowback from the Nyjer Morgan-Cardinals dust-up from last night, there isn’t a whole lot to report. He referred to himself in the clubhouse earlier as “Tony Hush”, and didn’t have much to say as a result … The past is the past,” he said. “Let it go … That’s why I’m Tony Hush … I ain’t talking. I don’t have nothing to say.”

What’s the over/under on Tony Hush continuing to control Morgan’s id?  A week?  I’ll set it at a week.

  1. Mr. Jason "El Bravo" Heyward - Sep 9, 2011 at 11:34 AM

I’ll set it at this weekend…

  2. halladaysbiceps - Sep 9, 2011 at 11:37 AM

I’ll tell you one thing. If this punk starts his crap up in the remaining (3) games against the Phillies this weekend, there will be hell to pay. He should keep his mouth shut and play the game of baseball. His own team is ready to crucify the guy.

    • Clinton Manitoba - Sep 9, 2011 at 11:47 AM

I wanna hear more tough guy.

      • halladaysbiceps - Sep 9, 2011 at 11:49 AM

        Hear more what? The truth?

      • Clinton Manitoba - Sep 9, 2011 at 1:23 PM

I wanna hear more Mr. Plush/Hush from you.

  3. shawnuel - Sep 9, 2011 at 11:37 AM

It’s too bad plush and douche don’t rhyme.

    • ta192 - Sep 9, 2011 at 4:47 PM

      Incredibly funny…

    • pdidny - Sep 28, 2011 at 9:52 AM

Yeah, but ploosh and douche do.

  4. jeffro33 - Sep 9, 2011 at 11:47 AM

This weekend he should call himself Tony Swept.

  5. sabathiawouldbegoodattheeighthtoo - Sep 9, 2011 at 11:54 AM

Yeah, Halladay should punch him, with his pitching hand. In the forehead. THAT will teach him…

    • jimbo1949 - Sep 9, 2011 at 11:58 AM

Could we have that in flashing red, for the willfully ignorant?

    • phukyouk - Sep 9, 2011 at 12:52 PM

DUDE! are you fu*king crazy? he would at the very least hurt his hand and for what? seriously you need to get a life and stop being so stupid with your comments.

      also.. what does #sarcasm mean?

      • pdidny - Sep 28, 2011 at 9:50 AM

        Yeah! What he said!!!

  6. dailyrev - Sep 9, 2011 at 12:02 PM

I doubt the Phils are giving him a second thought (or even a first). They’re looking to dial 3-4-4-ring this autumn, and seem fit to do it.

  7. Chris St. John - Sep 9, 2011 at 12:15 PM

I think the Tony Plush moniker was all a set-up just so he could eventually change it to Tony Hush. Because it rhymes, you see. Tricky guy.

    • Chris Fiorentino - Sep 9, 2011 at 12:19 PM

I don’t think he gets that Plush and Hush rhyme. That would take a 3rd grade intelligence level. I don’t think this guy made it out of Pre-K.

  8. cur68 - Sep 9, 2011 at 12:21 PM

Please, Nyjer, just SHUT UP & PLAY BALL and never mind with the stupid nick names and even stupider “twits”. I have seldom seen a more promising career ruined by a bigger, less informed, ill educated mouth. He could be a very good ball player but he ruins it all with the stupid sh!t he says. Here’s hoping he’s learned his lesson.

  9. dailyrev - Sep 9, 2011 at 12:43 PM

yesterday I was wondering why his mgr. hadn’t taken care of this problem back in, you know, June. This morning I realized: Roenicke’s new to this. Excellent baseball man with loads of experience, no question about that. But handling this kind of garbage is probably as odd as it is anathema to him.

The other new NL mgr.-of-year candidate who’s also a rook at this level already runs a tighter ship: can you imagine Morgan getting any of this BS out of the bag with Gibson? Heh, Gibson would turn him over his knee — face first.

  10. natstowngreg - Sep 9, 2011 at 12:49 PM

That would be great, but having seen the act in DC and seeing it reappear in Milwaukee, I’m not optimistic.

I’ll take the over on Craig’s timeframe. Think he might be able to get through the rest of the regular season, but am doubtful about the playoffs.

    • natstowngreg - Sep 9, 2011 at 12:52 PM

This was in response to cur’s comment. Oops.

    • cur68 - Sep 9, 2011 at 1:13 PM

Depends, don’t it? See I’ve always been careful of the term “ignorant” vs the term “stupid”. I don’t know enough about Morgan to know if he’s stupid, but I’ve seen and heard enough to know he’s ignorant. If he’s smart enough and self aware enough to check out what’s being said about him, how his career has been affected, and what it will mean in the off season, then he knows that he’s gotta reform. Clearly he’s hot headed. Clearly he lacks a good basic education. Put that together with his new found wealth, a national stage, and the ability to spout his every though on twitter and we have what we have here.

If he’s smart enough to realize he’s pissing away his career with this stuff then he may well tone it down and keep it toned down. For the most part there was nothing wrong with “Plush”. Some of his interviews were pretty funny. The trouble is that he, like many entertainers, think we the fan base like him for himself and not the quality of his work (Logan Morrison, pay attention here). He can be “Plush” but only if he keeps the ignorant to minimum, cools off before “twitting” or just stops “twitting” all together, and focusses first and foremost on his playing. Like when and when not to steal. That would be good place to start.

      • natstowngreg - Sep 9, 2011 at 1:47 PM

My take on it is that he’s just immature.

Not because of the whole Tony Plush alter ego thing; I agree that it can be entertaining. And not to suggest that he’s stupid; a genius can be an immature jerk, just as an idiot can. As for ignorance, that may or may not be the case; perhaps he knows the right thing, but can’t stop himself from doing the wrong thing.

Some people get over their immaturity with time; some never do. Morgan will go in the long run.

  11. phukyouk - Sep 9, 2011 at 12:53 PM

    a TWATER at its best

  12. bravesman1983 - Sep 9, 2011 at 1:35 PM

Nyjer Morgan’s act is wearing thin, but it’s not half as weak as most of the comments his antics have provoked on this website.

  13. nogoodell - Sep 9, 2011 at 2:33 PM

    • bravesman1983 - Sep 9, 2011 at 2:58 PM

This is what I’m talking about. Is this clever?

      • Alex K - Sep 9, 2011 at 3:38 PM

Never has been, never will be.

    • pdidny - Sep 28, 2011 at 10:01 AM

If nogoodell means to sat “nyJer PLEASE” cut the CRAP and play! Then he suks @ spelling/typing. Otherwise he is an ignorant TWAT!!!!

  14. sknut - Sep 9, 2011 at 2:46 PM

Maybe he should work on being a good Nyjer Morgan first and then work on the alter ego’s.

  15. jeffbbf - Sep 9, 2011 at 2:49 PM

It’s funny reading the talk about his immaturity, etc. Morgan is the same age as Pujols (31). Just a guy who ran into some luck this year (.375 BABIP) and is scratching and clawing to extend his 15 minutes. If we all just ignored the guy, he’d go away.

  16. richeich - Sep 9, 2011 at 6:26 PM

He got kicked out out Washington DC, What Brewer manager had the bright idea to bring him to Milwaukee?

  17. joebuckiscreepy - Sep 9, 2011 at 6:33 PM

Nyjer Morgan=Willie “Mays” Hays on crack.

  18. ufullpj - Sep 9, 2011 at 7:55 PM

Hmmm, it seems as though Carpenter has now admitted starting all of it by telling Morgan to “F-off” when he struck him out. I’m sorry, but I’m so sick of the d-bag, whiny cardinals – from their MLB Cancer Manager (let’s throw at everyone! let’s complain about everything! Let’s blame everyone else because we’re getting our ass kicked by Milwaukee! We have NO accountability!) to whiny superstars like Pujols (he’s a beast of a player, no doubt – but a crybaby human), little bitches like Carpenter that start dust-ups then duck & hide. The entire organization, including the mouthy, ignorant 2% of what is normally some of the best fans in MLB, should just pack it – just like their team did in August when they fell out of the race.

  19. mojosmagic - Sep 9, 2011 at 8:39 PM

Brewers gave out Niger Morgan towels tonight. They pay homage to his alter ego Tony Flush. I guess fans get to wipe their @SS with them then flush them down the toilet.
