As I have been saying for a month, the Sox are not in the playoffs just yet. The Rays are 5.5 back with 6 against the Red Sox, so in essence, they control their own destiny. They are hot, they are young, and they are hungry. The Sox are beat up. They have Lester and that’s it right now. With Beckett hurt, they are in serious trouble.

The only advantage the Red Sox have is that they have 7 against the Orioles while the Rays have 7 against the Yankees. But you know what? If the Yankees can win their other games, they won’t have to win those Rays games with the division wrapped up and it becomes a different finish to the season. The Red Sox BETTER win one of the next two games…or they are in serious trouble.
