funny cause i had a similar conversation this morning on the way into work. I dont think he will catch 600 or 601 but the last out at least of 602 Joe will put him in behind the plate. Especially if its at home. He certainly earned it.

Just get through September and everything will be fine, because as long as Martin is healthy he will catch every inning of every post season game. These kids won't get a whiff of catching gear come October if Martin is healthy.

The real issue for the Yanks behind the plate is whether Giradi will let Posada catch Rivera's 600th, 601st, and 602nd saves. Posada has said that his heart will break if he isn't behind the plate for those innings. I for one think he has earned the right to that honor and if Giradi keeps that from him it will go a very long way towards showing us the true nature of their relationship, which from what I hear, hasnt always been great.

When Posada came up and Joe was still catching, I have heard Jorge wasn't very open to suggestions and pointers from the veteran and a chilly, but professional, relationship, not a warm friendship, has existed between the two ever since.

But that would be a petty reason not to let Posada replace that night's catcher in the 9th for Mo's history making saves.

Let's look at when Cervelli was actually used: to catch CC, which anyone can do (even Grumpy).
Martin will get more rest and be given appropriate workloads IF we stop starting the ridiculous AJ (Job #1)/
Montero and Romine don't do anything either brilliant or damaging behind the plate. Cervelli is actually an improving fireplug behind the plate and gives a surprising number of "clutch" hits.
No Cervelli, Rest Martin, Put AJ in dipsy dumpster=-No Problem
