Ozzie Guillen gives himself a ‘Z’

Asked by CSN Chicago’s Chuck Garfien what kind of grade he deserves for the season, White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen responded, “Z for Zorro. I don’t think I did a good job.”

That’s probably overly harsh, given that he’s pretty much had his hands tied with having to play three of the game’s worst regulars for most of the season: Adam Dunn, Alex Rios and Brent Morel.  OK, maybe he didn’t have to play Morel, but alternatives like Mark Teahen and Omar Vizquel didn’t really have anything more to offer.

Plus, the one area in which a manager really can make a difference is in his bullpen usage, and after a rough start, Guillen has done a great job mixing and matching Sergio Santos, Chris Sale, Jesse Crain and Matt Thornton.  He definitely deserves some points for that, so I’d at least give him a solid ‘H.’

Next season, perhaps Ozzie can raise his grade to “F” — for Fish.

It is refreshing to hear a manager admit he didn’t manage as well as expected.

On the contrary, I think Slobbering Ozzie should stay in Chicago for about five more years making up for the atrocious job he did this season.

But, but, don’t you want Ozzie gracing the home dugout of your new baseball palace?

We shouldn’t have a new baseball palace. It ought to be torn down and replaced by an exact replica of the Orange Bowl. It was the product of corrupt crony politics. Shun it. Reject it!

Good. You man the barricades while Ozzie manages from the baseball palace’s home dugout.

I think it’s time to cut Ozzie, Kenny & Greg Walker loose. Keep Don Cooper & maybe Joey Cora. Enough of the Ozzie side shows & Kenny signing/trading for washed up vets. Time to blow it up & start over.

Ozzie will look good in a new Uni. Sad but his time is through. Still the best Baseball team in town though.

When your standard of comparison is the Cubs, that’s a Potemkin assertion. Did you make sure to include all the little league and high school teams in Chicagoland as well?
