From Mark Feinsand of the New York Daily News comes word that Yankees right-hander Phil Hughes has been scratched from his scheduled Monday start against the Twins due to back spams.

Hughes’ back locked up on him Friday after he threw a routine bullpen session in Toronto. He rested all day Saturday and will try to play catch before Sunday’s series finale with the Blue Jays. If that workout goes well, the 25-year-old should be cleared to take the mound Tuesday for the opening of a big four-game series against the surging Rays.

A.J. Burnett will start Monday’s makeup game with Minnesota in Hughes’ place.

Hughes has registered a 6.00 ERA, 1.49 WHIP and 45/24 K/BB ratio through 72 innings this season.

The Jays shut out the Yankees. My prayers were answered as Morrow pitched great. Now if Tampa can hold on to their lead over the Red Sox and the Bills can hold on to their lead over the Raiders, it will be a great day.

Just back form a round of golf and saw the good news, PC. A win and, most importantly we can enjoy Mo’s historic save against someone else’s rooting interest. Morrow looked just dominant in the highlights. Was that a change up he was throwing in between slider and FB? Looked like he finally got that to work for him. About time. He as a chance to be great, and to do that he needs that CU to set up his FB.

As for the football, well it looks like the Raiders are going to live and die by Janikowski’s big leg. Nice comeback by the Bills, though, no matter what.

The Jays beat the evil empire. The Bills won a very exciting game. The Rays have an 8 to 2 lead. I am going to open a nice bottle of red wine to go with my grilled steak. I do not have any cake, so I will have maple syrup on my ice cream.

        Ok, now I’m hungry.
