The Feesh are a hole with a few filaments of dark matter strung across it. As you know, I've been skeptical of the hype about them that seems to fill the ear-waves every spring, but I think this year conclusively exposed the pretender to the throne as being the naked one while the emperor gallivants around his his Guccis. True, if the Hanster comes back - and with that contract plus that shoulder you can bet he will be back - and if Josh Johnson seems more or less OK for the time being in March, the hype will start up again. But unless they take some major steps to address their woeful situational hitting, it won't matter. They'll be an at best second division team again, sterile new stadium or not.

It's a given with him that he isn't focused on winning. He had a chance to be traded to a contender at the trade deadline and he wouldn't remove his no trade clause. He mentioned not wanting to move his family for 3 months but give me a break. Half of those games are on the road whether you play for the Cubs or another team. Keep the family in Chicago while you chase down your dream of playing in a World Series and then figure out AFTER the season where you move to.

You would think that a 3 year deal for someone his age who's shown some injury issues the last few years would be a remote possibility. But in this offense-starved climate, somebody will do the deal and end up regretting at least 1 year of the contract. The Marlins have a lot of holes. And they aren't anywhere near contending. So maybe he's more interested in shopping for retirement property than he is in winning something.
